I love taking pictures, always have. In the days of film photography, I only took the obligatory family and holiday photos. In the digital age, I still took those, but also many more random shots of things I just couldn’t stop myself from shooting. I have tons of digital images saved on tons of different media, very few of them are even worth looking at…blurry, bright, not framed, just a mess.
I finally started taking my time, and taking better, more carefully planned shots. Not only did I start loving the photos, I loved taking and sharing the pictures. I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to take the next step and buy a better camera. So, I did, and was immediately in way over my head. That’s when I went on-line for help, and found Kimberly…
First I just loved her site, all the helpful tips, links, etc. Then I realized she was in the same area of the country I was, I thought it was pretty “cool”. I also, happened to be travelling even closer to where she was for a weekend with family; I scheduled a photo tutoring session.
I was in way over my head with my camera, barely able to turn it on, and use it in automatic (settings only gotten to with help). Before my lesson, I spent time taking all kinds of “test” shots, some weren’t bad, but they were all accidental, and couldn’t be repeated if I tried.
I met with Kimberly, and was so happy that I did. After only a couple of hours, I knew there was hope. I knew I didn’t have to plan my shots around what I could find, and what the current lighting would allow, but I could find things I wanted to shoot, and then make changes on my camera that would allow me to capture it the way I wanted.
It is just the beginning, I have a lot of practicing to do, but I no longer feel like I wasted my money on my camera, or that I should quit taking pictures. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you Kimberly, you saved me and my camera, made me excited to take pictures, and offered to be available for more help in the future, you’re the best! (And, I will be taking you up on your offer of help.)
